Congratulations on completing your first course registration experience! Your four-year advisor is currently reviewing your course schedule. If they contact you to say that changes are needed, you should make them in SIS immediately and no later than Sunday, December 8, so that your Academic Inquiry can be assigned—read on for more about this.
Your first-semester schedule will officially be finalized once you are enrolled in your Academic Inquiry Seminar based on your self-placement selections. Below are a few important reminders.
- If you selected the Topical Academic Inquiry Seminar option, make sure you identified your Academic Inquiry Seminar preferences on your Roadmap; if you later adjust your schedule in SIS, please return to the form to verify that your selections are still valid with your adjusted schedule. The Writing Program will determine your seminar enrollment based on the preferences you provided. If you do not submit your preferences by Sunday, December 8, your topical seminar placement will be based on the rest of your schedule.
- If you selected Foundations Seminar or Seminar for Non-Native Speakers of English, you will be placed in a section that fits your schedule, and do not need to take any further action.
You should expect to see your final Academic Inquiry Seminar on your schedule in SIS in mid-December.
During Discover Days, you will have the opportunity to discuss your semester schedule again with your pre-major advisor. You will find out who your pre-major advisor is in early January, and they will serve as your academic advisor until you declare your major. Your pre-major advisor’s role is to provide guidance for future course selection, major exploration and how to find out more about a specific subject or learning opportunities.
