We’re not just “STEM” anymore! Members of the Case Western Reserve University community are invited to lead the expanded Faculty Recruitment and Retention Journal Club.
In years past, the Journal Club had focused on reviewing readings to increase the recruitment and retention of historically disenfranchised populations in STEM disciplines. But now, the Journal Club is open to all disciplines.
“We all know that a diverse group of faculty adds to the richness of our campus and community,” said Provost and Executive Vice President Ben Vinson III. “To help us achieve greater inclusivity—and think anew about how to get there—it has become clear that we need to involve more people in these conversations.”
These virtual meetings will focus on readings about best practices and research on faculty recruitment and mentoring, as well as other related topics. Journal Club leaders will engage attendees in a discussion about the reading during any one of the monthly meeting dates. Any member of the Case Western Reserve Community—but particularly those with research and teaching roles—are welcome to lead a conversation. This includes faculty, staff, students, postdocs and more.
Applications must be received by Sept. 23. Selected leaders will be notified on, or around, Sept. 30.
