The Case Western Reserve University Division of Student Success invites members of the CWRU community to attend "Fostering Student Belonging: A New Paradigm on Retention."
At CWRU, student retention is a university-wide effort. As part of this event, the university community will have the opportunity to participate in a group discussion and generate a list of initiatives and/or programs that could be created at CWRU to enhance student belonging. Attendees will also hear from Dr. Glenn Davis, Vice Provost for Academic Affairs at Bowling Green State University, who will present information on student belonging that provides clarity on what student belonging truly means.
The purpose of this collaborative is to:
- Generate excitement around revamping an initiative to increase retention rates by improving a sense of belonging for students.
- Create a list of action items that a committee can begin working on to improve students' sense of belonging.
- Identify a group of diverse individuals who are committed to being on the committee for this project.
Keynote Speaker
Dr. Glenn Davis, Vice Provost for Academic Affairs, Bowling Green State University
Glenn began his career as a faculty member in the English Department at St. Cloud State University, where he also served as Chair, before becoming Interim Dean of University College. In all his roles, he worked to address barriers to student progress. As Interim Dean, he led several change initiatives, including a campus-wide effort to promote students’ sense of belonging.
