What is Greek Life?
Greek Life at Case Western Reserve is more than a way to make friends, it is a way to build community, gain academic and scholarship support, serve the community, and create lifelong connections. Our Greek organizations look to make college students the best versions of themselves academically, professionally, and personally. The four pillars of Greek Life are Citizenship, Leadership, Ritual, and Scholarship.
How do I join a fraternity or sorority?
- Complete interest form or recruitment registration
- Attend chapter and/or council sponsored events
- Be a student at CWRU (some chapters allow Cleveland Institute of Art [CIA] and Cleveland Institute of Music [CIM] students to join)
The recruitment process is one of mutual membership selection meaning not only do the Greek organizations select new members, but the potential new members (PNMs) select the chapter with which they wish to be affiliated. The majority of chapters have at least a 2.5 GPA requirement, but may have a higher GPA or additional membership criteria.

What is expected of me if I join?
All New Members are required to attend New Member Orientation. Date and time will be announced each semester. Additionally, all must complete the SMARRT Quiz about risk and safety. Chapters also have their own New Member Education process, which includes sessions on chapter values, history, and expectations.
What chapters are there?
There are 15 fraternities under the Interfraternity Congress (IFC), 10 sororities under the Panhellenic Council (PHC), and 2 chapters with active members under the city-wide National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC).
