Advanced Materials & Manufacturing Research

The Advanced Materials & Manufacturing Research cluster spans the sciences and engineering with expertise in a range of materials—hard and soft; biological and synthetic; commercial and fundamental—including biomedical polymers, chemical products and critical materials. We leverage Case Western Reserve University’s existing strengths in polymer chemistry, rheology, separations and formulation science to solve complex, use-inspired problems. Collaborations with industrial partners translate our fundamental science to real-world applications.

Partnerships and External Collaboration

Beyond our collaborations at the Roger E. Susi Interdisciplinary Research Building, across the university and with academic institutions around the world, our cluster has extensive experience working with industry, government and medical partners. We successfully carry out impact- and value-driven research enabled by the capabilities available in the Susi Building's university setting.

Student Opportunities

Students help move the work forward in Advanced Materials & Manufacturing. Through hands-on research, lab experience and interdisciplinary collaboration, students can build the technical knowledge and practical skills needed for the workforce in advanced manufacturing.
