Molecular Therapeutics Research

The Molecular Therapeutics research cluster in the Roger E. Susi Interdisciplinary Research Building includes leading investigators in the College of Arts and Sciences and School of Medicine whose focus is research at the intersection of chemistry and biology that aims to generate new drugs for a wide range of disease states.  This work also intersects with other Susi Building clusters, including Precision Diagnostics & Therapeutics and with campus-wide AI initiatives.

Research Areas in Molecular Therapeutics

  • Chemical Biology
  • Target Discovery and Validation
  • Medicinal Chemistry
  • Drug Discovery
  • Novel Therapeutics

Student Opportunities

Undergraduate students at Case Western Reserve University are invited to engage with research in the Molecular Therapeutics cluster by reaching out to the various faculty leading research projects in the cluster. Past undergraduates in the Cluster have won the Goldwater Award and gone on to PhD or MD/PhD programs at Harvard University, Johns Hopkins University and Case Western Reserve.

Partnerships and External Collaboration

The Molecular Therapeutics cluster welcomes external collaborations from Cleveland and beyond. Past partnerships have included the use of the Small Molecule Drug Discovery Core’s instrumentation by small- and medium-sized biotech companies in the Northeast Ohio region.
