On June 10, members of the Office for Sustainability and several SURES Interns attended the CLEan Water PechaKucha event, presented
by Sustainable Cleveland at the Music Box Supper Club in the Flats downtown. 2015 is the Celebration Year of Clean Water in Cleveland, and the speakers were eager to demonstrate Cleveland’s notable progress in this area. In short and sweet PechaKucha style, this event brought notable Clevelanders together who are working on a plethora of water topics: improved infrastructure and safety, rainwater recycling, retention through tree planting, and fun through sports like paddle boarding. The event even included a performance of one of the short plays from Fire on the Water, a Cleveland Public Theater original production about the 1969 Fire on the Cuyahoga River, called “Cuyahoga, Briefly.” Educational and entertaining, the Clean Water PechaKucha led us to rethink water in our green city on a blue lake.
