With the warmer weather on its way, May's Bike to Work Day on the horizon and Sustainable Cleveland's Celebration Year of Sustainable Transportation, biking to work is a great venture to consider to green your commute to campus. With this in mind, we are hosting our last Green Bag Lunch of the 2015/2016 academic year: Biking to Work - A Conversation on How to Actually Do It.
A panel discussion will be held with avid cyclists and bike to work commuters representing Bike Cleveland, CWRU and University Hospital. Participants will gain information on laws, gear, cyclists' rights and tips and tricks on how to get to work or school on two wheels instead of four.
The panelists will include:
- Ryan Pierce - CWRU Office of Government Relations staff member, Coach and Staff Advisor to CWRU Cycling (CWRU's cycling club and race team), Promoter for the Battery Park Criterium Race (part of the NEOCycle Cycling Festival), board member at the Cleveland Velodrome and daily bike to work commuter.
- Sarah O'Keeffe - CWRU Weatherhead Alum,(former) Sustainability Specialist at UH, Heights Bicycle Coalition board member and bikes to work three days a week, three seasons of the year and otherwise takes mass transit.
- Rob Thompson - Communications and Membership Manager at Bike Cleveland and on average a three days a week bike to work commuter.
The event will be held on April 6 at noon to 1:00pm in Adelbert Hall's Toepfer Room. Coffee, tea, water, and cookies will be provided. Attendees are encouraged to pack their own green bag lunch and bring a reusable drink container.
