If your department uses an ultra-low temperature freezer, a new program just rolled out to help you get a more energy efficient model. Ultra-low freezers become less efficient as they age and so use more energy and also eject more heat. CWRU Facilities Services and CWRU Procurement have worked with Stirling Ultracold to offer a $3000 rebate for eligible departments. Stirling Ultracold’s freezers use the least amount of energy among other ultra-low temperature freezer while maintaining high sample integrity. New Stirling Ultracold freezers will come with a seven year warranty. For more details on how to enroll in the program, buy your new freezer, remove the old one and get your rebate, visit the Facilities Management’s Freezer Upgrade Program website.
