Employment Authorization Documents (EADs)
Case Western Reserve University routinely hires those working pursuant to a valid Employment Authorization Document (EAD), however, the VISA Office will not prepare an Application for Employment Authorization (Form I-765) on an employee's behalf. We recommend that employees obtain outside counsel for assistance with the EAD application, if needed.
EADs may be obtained for the following categories of people. This list is not exhaustive:
- J-2 Visa Holders
- Asylees/TPS
- H-4 Spouses (if their H-1B spouse has obtained an approved I-140)
- OPT/STEM OPT (see below)
OPT/STEM OPT
Case Western Reserve University routinely hires those on OPT/STEM OPT, which requires a valid EAD. The VISA Office does not assist in preparing and filing the Form I-765. We recommend that employees obtain outside counsel for assistance with the EAD application, if needed.
J-1s From Other Sponsors
Case Western Reserve University occasionally hires those on J-1s from other educational institutions and sponsors (such as Fulbright Scholars, etc.). Please seek assistance from your sponsoring organization for any processes that must be completed and/or questions you may have.
