Artificial intelligence (AI) is changing what’s possible in education, research, discovery and work. At Case Western Reserve University, our question has never been simply whether to use AI, but how to use it well.
CWRU’s approach to AI is human-centered, mission-driven and rooted in people, purpose and values. We view AI—including predictive, generative and agentic AI—not as a replacement for human judgment, but as an enabling layer that can support, extend and accelerate human expertise when used responsibly.
Our goal is not to replace the core of a CWRU education or the human judgment and decision-making behind our work. Instead, we are equipping students, faculty and staff to make informed, ethical decisions in an AI-integrated world—giving our campus community space to test, critique, adapt, limit or reject AI tools based on context, evidence and responsible experimentation.
Grounded in our values of academic excellence, inclusiveness, integrity, transparency and effective stewardship, we are building a human-centered AI ecosystem that supports learning, discovery and real-world impact.
Through AI-integrated education, interdisciplinary research, responsible governance, expanded campus tools, and training and support, we are helping students, faculty, and staff build AI fluency so they can apply these technologies thoughtfully, ethically, and effectively—while preserving the human expertise, relationships and judgment at the center of our mission.

Strategic Partnerships
Partnership is a driving component across CWRU’s efforts involving AI. On a large scale, the university is part of the Grow with Google AI for Education Accelerator, expanding access to AI models, tools, and training across campus to strengthen teaching, learning, and responsible use.
Just as importantly, this work is helping connect the university more deeply with the broader community and corporate partners—creating new opportunities for collaboration, workforce development, innovation, and applied impact beyond campus. From classroom innovation and research breakthroughs to professional upskilling and enterprise platforms, CWRU is building a foundation for AI that serves people, organizations, and society.
