Sam Arlia

Assistant Director, Facilities Services - Academic Campus

Sam is the Assistant Director for Facilities Services at Case Western Reserve University, where he has worked since 1992, starting as a Master Plumber. While working full-time, he studied Engineering at CWRU, which helped him advance through the years. Having been a trades worker, both a student and a parent of CWRU students, a mechanical coordinator, and now assistant director, Sam brings a unique perspective to his leadership role. He takes pride in overseeing operations across 148 university buildings, where teamwork, problem solving, and a commitment to service guide his daily work to ensure the campus remains a great place for students, faculty, staff and visitors alike.

Outside of work, Sam is a devoted father, proud grandfather, and a lifelong motorcycle enthusiast who enjoys a variety of outdoor activities. He is also active in his faith and community, serving as a Eucharistic Minister and participating in St. Rocco’s Men of Faith group, while being an accomplished Senior Olympic Archer and Advisor to the Case Archery Club.
