Event Details/Summary

"Slavic Sessions" is an artistic project that began as an album of guitar duets founded by five-time Grammy nominee Mak Grgić (Slovenia) and Mateusz Kowalski (Poland) to celebrate and explore Slavic musical heritage. The Recording, which received a 2026 Grammy nomination for Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance, spans three centuries of music, from Chopin and Dvořák to contemporary voices like Marek Pasieczny and Miroslav Tadić. The concert program, which includes solos and duos, blends intimacy, rhythmic vitality, and a fresh sonic perspective on familiar melodies. The two virtuosos approach each piece with intimacy and dynamism, creating a unique sound with familiar and cherished melodies.

"[Mateusz Kowalski’s] ability to play his instrument is flawless and his communication with the public is truly extraordinary."

— Sérgio Assad

“Grammy nominators are right to point to Grgic as a guitarist worthy of more attention.”

— James Manhein, AllMusic.com
