Our lab explores innovative solutions under the theme ACT with Biomaterials, short for Advancing Curative Therapies with Biomaterials. Focused on vision science and regenerative medicine, the lab’s work will address critical healthcare challenges. Dr. Chen has developed magnetic silica nanoparticles to improve the targeting and retention of stem cell therapies for treating heart disease, potentially enhancing therapeutic outcomes. Additionally, Dr. Chen has designed several in situ-forming collagen hydrogels as a promising treatment for corneal blindness, offering a minimally invasive approach to promote corneal tissue repair.
Looking ahead, our lab continues to investigate how nanoparticles and hydrogels can be further optimized to tackle complex, unmet medical needs. With a commitment to translational research, the lab strives to bridge the gap between biomaterial innovations and clinical applications, advancing therapies that could significantly impact patients’ lives.
