Award Descriptions

This award recognizes chapters who hosted a development event that educated on building community, active engagement, mindful learning, and transformative civil dialogue through championing the unique perspectives and experiences of each individual while connecting them together. This event may have been a chapter-only event or a public event. This award will be given to up to one fraternity and one sorority.

This award recognizes chapters who hosted a wellness event that educated on physical and/or emotional well-being through placing importance on caring for self and others and how to identify and intervene to support those who may be at risk. This event may have been a chapter-only event or a public event. This award will be given to up to one fraternity and one sorority.

This award recognizes chapters who hosted a service event in the CWRU and/or greater Cleveland community to support a charity, program, or agency. Service is action performed for an external entity in which compensation is not given. This award will be given to up to one fraternity and one sorority.

This award recognizes chapters who hosted a philanthropy event in the CWRU and/or greater Cleveland community to support a charity, program, or agency. Philanthropy is collecting funds and/or goods. This award will be given to up to one fraternity and one sorority.

This award recognizes chapters who hosted a leadership event that supported participants in their ethical and effective leadership development. This event may have been a chapter-only event or a public event. This award will be given to up to one fraternity and one sorority.

This award recognizes chapters who hosted a siblinghood event that connected, educated, and empowered members on chapter history, values, and connected members to each other. This event may have been a chapter-only event or a public event. This award will be given to up to one fraternity and one sorority.

This award recognizes chapters who hosted a scholarship event that supported and/or celebrated participants' academic and career pursuits. This event may have been a chapter-only event or a public event. This award will be given to up to one fraternity and one sorority.

This award recognizes the chapter service and/or philanthropy chairs that have gone above and beyond their job description to create new opportunities, educate the chapter on the importance of supporting various causes, and models and empowers members to actively engage in the community. This award will be given to one fraternity member and one sorority member.

This award recognizes the risk management chairs that have gone above and beyond their job description to promote a safe environment within the chapter. They educate and promote social responsibility to their chapter. This award will be given to one fraternity member and one sorority member.

This award recognizes the officers that serve their chapter in a position that supports building community, active engagement, mindful learning, and transformative civil dialogue through championing the unique perspectives and experiences of each individual while connecting them together. They have educated and empowered chapter members to expand their horizons and take initiative to ensure that all members feel welcome and appreciated. This award will be given to one fraternity member and one sorority member.

This award recognizes the chapter presidents that successfully led their chapter to accomplish goals and have maintained open avenues of communication with other chapters, officers of IFC/PHC, and Greek Life staff. They have great leadership skills and have shown great effort to be involved in the improvement of the Greek community. This award will be given to one fraternity member and one sorority member.

This award recognizes the new members that have been successful and a contributing member to the chapter. They have gone above and beyond in their chapter and Greek community and have demonstrated a high commitment to chapter values and Greek Life pillars. This award will be given to one fraternity member and one sorority member.

This award recognizes the chapter scholarship chairs that have gone above and beyond their job description to support scholarship, academic, and career initiatives and programming in the chapter. This award will be given to one fraternity member and one sorority member.

This award is named for Robert Niebaum who was a Greek student and went on to serve as an advisor for the chapter and with the local chapter house corporation.

This award recognizes a chapter advisor who serves as a mentor and guiding light for the advancement of the organization’s mission and values.

This award recognizes faculty members, staff members, or CWRU offices that went above and beyond their job description to provide support and opportunities to the improvement, growth, or education of the Greek Community. This individual should not also serve as an advisor to an organization.

This award recognizes Greater Cleveland individuals and organizations that went above and beyond to provide support and opportunities to the improvement, growth, or education of the Greek Community. This individual should not also serve as an advisor to an organization.

This award recognizes individuals that demonstrated mentorship within the Citizenship Pillar. They embody the selfless and giving spirit of Lambda Eta Mu and are someone who has worked to encourage and foster the commitment to Citizenship in others.

This award recognizes individuals, regardless of year, who showed a commitment to leadership and a desire to become more involved in leadership opportunities within their chapter, the greater Greek Life community, and with the CWRU community overall. They have gone above and beyond any position they may or may not have to learn more about leadership and develop their leadership skills.

In 1997 the Interfraternity Congress and the Panhellenic Council, with the help of many loyal alumni, began a process to establish an endowed fund to award outstanding chapter leadership within fraternities and sororities at Case Western Reserve University. In 2000 this award was dedicated to the memory of Cristina Camardo, the 1999 winner.

This award recognizes juniors who have outstanding chapter leadership and demonstrates a passion for meaningful involvement. This award will be given to one fraternity member and one sorority member.

• Recommendation letter from a chapter officer or advisor that details why the individual is the best candidate for the award. Be as specific as possible with actions and accomplishments for the chapter and greater Greek community.
  • Approximately 150-300 words (equivalent to one half to full page, Times New Roman or Arial, 12 pt font, double spaced)

This award recognizes individuals who have distinguished themselves in service to and participation in the CWRU Greek community. It recognizes the influence and impact the individual has had on their chapter and the greater Greek community. It is one of the highest honors an individual can receive. This award will be given to one fraternity member and one sorority member.

This award is named for Howard A. Shelley, Jr., who attended Case School of Applied Science in the 1940s.

This award recognizes juniors or seniors who have exemplified honor, integrity, confidence, and honesty in their leadership roles within the Greek community. It is the highest individual Greek Honor. This award will be given to one fraternity member and one sorority member.

This award is named for Glenn Nicholls, Vice President Emeritus for Student Affairs, who served as Vice President for over 25 years and retired in 2013.

This award recognizes individuals who have constantly gone above and beyond. These individuals are great examples that living your values is a continuous journey of both successes and failures. They have a desire to learn, not just for learning's sake, but to learn with the pursuit of challenging themselves and those around them to be better.

This award recognizes individuals who have been dedicated to their academics and career through pursuing activities such as research, co-op, or an internship in 2025 that have contributed positively to the greater community. This award will be given to one fraternity member and one sorority member.
