For the second year in a row, Storrs won the Energy & Sustainability Contest! Hitchcock came in at a very close second and Sherman was third. Learn more details on our final rankings page.
Our Annual Campus Energy and Sustainability Contest kicks off October 1st! The residence hall or Greek house (not all are able to compete) with the greatest energy reduction over two weeks will win a Euro Wafel Brunch for their building. The contest will end on October 15 with winners announced the next day. A mid-contest update will be given on October 8.
We have a few changes to this year’s contest that can earn your res hall bonus points! Residents who sign the contest Pledge to personally reduce their environmental footprint and/or attend a few upcoming sustainability events will garner points towards the contest. All students who sign the pledge or attend the designated events will also be entered into a raffle to win a cool eco gift bag or a set of LED fairy lights with an energy-saving light timer. Twenty individual prizes are available and10 winners will be chosen each week.
Who can participate?
All residence halls on Northside, Southside and Southside Greek Houses in CWRU owned buildings. But anyone can make the pledge, attend events, and be entered to win the raffle!
How can you participate?
Get your friends and suitemates to reduce your res hall’s electricity use by turning off the lights, taking the stairs, unplugging devices, air drying clothes or not hitting the auto-open door button. Follow links below to see usage.

The winner of the energy reduction portion will be based on energy usage compared to baseline weeks – follow your building's progress frequently by checking your building's link! Note that for the links to work, you must be signed into the CWRU network.
