Between now and June 30th, northeast Ohio workplaces are holding a friendly competition aimed at reducing air pollution, just in time for summer vacations.
Did you know? Northeast Ohio is failing three of the six criteria pollutants for the National Ambient Air Quality Standards under the Clean Air Act. Studies show that vehicle emissions are one of the main drivers of the noncompliance.
What can you do? Area organizations are asking employees to simply log their commutes via Gohio Commute. Use our custom CWRU subsite to log in or create your account. Then, log your daily commutes (up to 2 trips/day), whether they are via car, bus, walking, bike, or any other means. Commutes can be logged retroactively, up to two weeks, in case you forget to log each day. Find a tutorial on our website to get started.
Why do it? Because cleaner air benefits us all, especially children and the elderly. Plus, we are in a friendly competition with other area employers as a part of the Commuter Choice Awards. The Office for Sustainability will award top CWRU commute loggers with breakfast. The first 25 employees who log at least two weeks (10 days) worth of round-trip commutes during June will receive an invite for a July celebration breakfast and green giveaways.
