The Building Capacity for Obesity Prevention Project (BCOP) is a partnership between the Mary Ann Swetland Center at Case Western Reserve University and The Ohio State University SNAP-Ed Program. The BCOP project provides web-based diagnostic tools to help SNAP-Ed and public health practitioners successfully implement and sustain community nutrition policy, systems, and environmental (PSE) interventions in rural and urban settings.
The project is focused on four community nutrition PSE areas, including:
BCOP celebrated its statewide launch of www.PSEREADI.org in early 2019. The website features four PSE READI assessment tools, an extensive online resource library of worksheets, toolkits, general resources, and a series of 20 videos featuring community nutrition practitioners from across Ohio working in the four community nutrition PSE intervention areas.

Through ongoing evaluation, the project aims to (1) improve the usability, reach, and adoption of the PSE READI assessment tools to guide local community nutrition PSE implementation, (2) develop training materials for with SNAP-Ed and public health practitioners to improve capacity for PSEs, and (3) disseminate findings to researchers, practitioners, and other key stakeholders focused on increasing implementation of community nutrition PSEs.

The PSE READI is part of the USDA’s national SNAP-Ed Toolkit, a one-stop shop for organizations seeking programs to improving nutritional health in their communities.
