Alaina leads a team responsible for driving impactful university communications at CWRU, with a focus on digital platforms including feature articles, the news hub, priority websites, and emails. She plays a central role in shaping and executing the university’s communications strategy to enhance visibility and elevate the institutional brand.
Her background spans journalism, social media, and communications, including an award-winning reporting career in Ketchikan, Alaska—where she was primarily an arts and education reporter at a daily newspaper—and previous roles at Ohio University. She began her journalism career after graduating from The Ohio State University and working for a newspaper group in rural Ohio, where she covered news for five publications. She also holds a Master of Nonprofit Organizations from Case Western Reserve.
At the university, she's proud to serve as co-chair of the communications committee on the Staff Advisory Council. Outside of work, she enjoys traversing through national parks, being walked by her fluffy golden retriever, Tarly, and volunteering with Lake Metroparks.
