Matt joined the university in late 2023. His career prior to joining Case Western Reserve took him from rural storytelling opportunities as an award-winning newspaper journalist to cleaning cages in local nonprofit animal shelters and slinging espresso as a barista. A graduate of Kent State University’s journalism school, his love of stories led him to reporting, photojournalism, corporate internal communications and marketing. When not at work you can find Matt hiking the trails of Cuyahoga Valley National Park, ranking mochas at coffee shops, enjoying Waffle House hashbrowns or building something new with Legos in his home office in Stow, where he lives with his artist wife, Marissa, and two cats.
