I teach courses on a variety of film topics. CWRU students can explore a number of options for studying film, which are described here. I am the author of Uncanny Bodies: The Coming of Sound Film and the Origins of the Horror Genre (University of California Press). I hold a doctorate in English from the University of Chicago and a master of arts in cinema studies from New York University.
In 2018, I was honored to receive the Carl F. Wittke Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching. You can learn more about my teaching, research, and publications.
