The Weatherhead Way

At Case Western Reserve, you’ll study at one of the nation’s leading research universities—in one of the country’s most culturally robust neighborhoods. You’ll live and learn in a city known for industry and healthcare innovation, where nearly 40% of Fortune 500 companies are represented. You’ll learn breakthrough business concepts from the people who wrote the book on them.

Plus, you’ll:

  • Learn more than just the core skills of business management,
  • Discover yourself better as a person and as a leader, and
  • Build the skills you need to reach beyond problem solving to solution innovation.

Your Classes

In our certificate program, you have the choice to complete up to three courses per semester, which also prepares you for the sought-after Chartered Financial Analyst certification.

To earn the Level 1 certificate, you’ll complete lower-level coursework in:

  • FNCE 429 - Investment Management
  • FNCE 404 - Financial Modeling
  • FNCE 450 - Mergers and Acquisitions

If you have not taken a financial management class previously, it is required that you enroll in a compulsory course such as MBAP 405 -H (Online) - Financial Management, MBAP 405 - Financial Management I, or FNCE 421 Corporate Financial Analysis as part of the Level I certificate.

Earning the advanced Level 2 certification includes the same requirements as Level 1, in addition to advanced courses in:

  • FNCE 428 - Financial Strategy and Value Creation
  • FNCE 403 - Corporate Financial Technology
  • FNCE 440 - Financial Decisions, Contracting and Analytics OR FNCE 480 - Global Banking and Capital Markets

Financial Management Certificate Level I and Level II classes may be taken out of order per the discretion of the master of finance faculty director.

Credit hours from the certificates will count towards the degree, when a student switches from a non-degree certificate to degree seeking, after completing all available levels of a certificate.
