Just minutes from campus, Cleveland offers even more to explore—from world-class arts and music to outdoor spaces along Lake Erie. Downtown is home to Playhouse Square, the largest performing arts center outside New York, where you can catch Broadway tours, concerts and comedy shows, as well as the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, celebrating the artists and moments that shaped modern music.

Beyond the arts scene, Cleveland’s neighborhoods, food and outdoor spaces give you plenty of ways to spend your time off campus. Visit the historic West Side Market, where more than 100 vendors offer fresh foods and global cuisine; catch live music at venues such as Beachland Ballroom, Grog Shop and Jacobs Pavilion; or cheer on Cleveland’s professional sports teams

You can also unwind along the Lake Erie shoreline at Edgewater Park, part of the Cleveland Metroparks—a sweeping network of parks and trails known as the city’s “Emerald Necklace.”

Getting Around

Cleveland is easy to navigate—whether you’re staying close to campus or heading across the city. Many students walk or bike between classes, residence halls and nearby destinations in University Circle, one of the most walkable neighborhoods in the region.

When you want to travel farther, public transportation and campus services make it simple. The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA), which students can ride for free, operates bus and rail lines that connect University Circle to downtown Cleveland, the airport and neighborhoods across the city. The HealthLine bus rapid transit runs along Euclid Avenue and stops just steps from campus, offering quick access to downtown.

Students also have access to university shuttles, ride services and bike-friendly routes throughout the area—making it easy to explore Cleveland’s museums, restaurants, parks and waterfront whenever you want.
