CWRU Pride: The LGBT Alumni Network invites you to listen to Voices of Pride: a speaker series that highlights LGBTQIA+ CWRU faculty staff, and alumni who have contributed to the queer community through their research or volunteerism. Our guest for the evening will be Matthew Garrett, professor in the Department of Music at the College of Arts and Sciences, and the director of the University Center for Innovation in Teaching and Education. Garrett will discuss how to support trans and gender-expansive (TGE) individuals in music education. He will provide practical strategies for creating safe and empowering spaces for all students, drawing from his book, Honoring Trans and Gender-Expansive Students in Music Education, and sharing real stories from TGE collaborators and their teachers. This session will offer valuable insights for educators on honoring students’ identities amidst current challenges. All are encouraged to attend!
