Guest meal swipes are limited by plan and a student must accompany the guest. Student must swipe their meal first and then request a guest swipe. Guest meal swipes count as part of your weekly/semester totals, they are not additional swipes.
Each meal plan has different meal swipe use around campus. Please use the links below to check out how your selected plan can be used around campus.
1st Year Experience Students (2022-2023)
All 1st year experience students who live in university housing are required to to enroll in a university meal plan. These are weekly plans that have a number of swipes each week that reset. These plans include both regular swipes and Portable swipes that are "portable." Regular swipes may be used at meal plan only locations such as Leutner, L3 or the Grab-it. "Portable" swipes may be used at both meal plan only and retail locations. Both regular and "portable" swipes count in the weekly total, such that a 17 weekly plan would have a total of 17 total swipes available of which 14 could be used as regular swipes and 3 as "portable" swipes. You can see which locations take portable swipes by clicking here.
The best "swipe value” is always the All you care to eat full service Leutner and Fribley Dining Halls. "Portable" swipes are offered as a convenience to provide students flexibility and additional options, but should not be considered as fully equivalent to the full service options. As "portable" swipes are a convenience, the retail units themselves determine when and if they will accept a portable swipe as well as what they will offer for it. Meal plan participants should plan their use of swipes accordingly with the understanding that these "portable" swipes will not be available at all times or locations.
Additionally, each plan comes with a number of "guest" swipes which can be used to treat a guest to a meal. These "guest" swipes are for each semester, and do not reset each week. Kosher/Halal meals are prepared off site, so "guest" meals of this nature need to be requested.
