Case Western Reserve University offers a centralized website to support scholars working with data. This platform provides essential information and best practices for creating, describing, storing, and sharing research data. It is a collaborative effort among CWRU Libraries, the Office of Research & Technology Management, and UTech. Additionally, the website features a support request form, allowing researchers to ask questions or seek further training opportunities.
The importance of planning and adhering to best practices in data management cannot be overstated, especially given the importance of recently revised federal requirements. This website assists researchers in implementing these best practices and navigating potential regulations from funders, such as the National Institutes of Health’s (NIH) data management and sharing policy, which mandates detailed data management plans for all projects generating scientific data.
“It is never too early to plan for responsibly managing your data,” emphasized Roger Zender, Associate University Librarian, Creation & Curation Services. “If you are involved in research, you need to familiarize yourself with the critical data decisions you will need to make as investigators, and this site will help you do that.”
