Kelvin Smith Library offers services designed to meet patron's educational needs. From study room reservations to borrowing materials, our goal is to equip you with the tools and knowledge for your next project.
Get Research Help: Our Research and Engagement Librarians are assigned to specific schools, colleges, and interdisciplinary areas. They can assist at any point of the research process. Find your designated REL.
Develop Research Skills: KSL's teaching team encourages research skill development through Canvas modules, in-person or online courses, and our online instruction hub. Students and faculty looking to access these resources can do so on our Library Instruction page.
Store Your Research: CWRU researchers are invited to submit work to data repositories through KSL. These repositories facilitate the storing, promoting, and sharing of research documents, files, and data. KSL offers a variety of reservable spaces for students and faculty. Students can reserve collaboration rooms and individual quiet study rooms. Faculty and staff can reserve classrooms and meeting rooms. To reserve a space, visit our Reserve a Room @ KSL page.
The Freedman Center for Digital Scholarship offers multimedia software, digitization hardware, and a variety of workstations suited for scanning, viewing, research and more. Learn more about the Freedman Center's resources. CWRU patrons can additionally borrow equipment such as cameras, calculators, and projectors at the service center desk. CWRU, CIA, and CIM patrons can visit our Borrowing Privileges page for information on library accounts, loan periods & renewals, and borrowing materials. KSL additionally offers OhioLINK & SearchOhio borrowing, and InterLibrary Loan services for materials that are not available at a CWRU library. Non-CWRU patron's borrowing privileges are limited. Students may come to KSL to check out materials that professors have set aside. These items are set aside to grant specific access to students in the requested course. Faculty members are encouraged to submit course reserves requests prior to the start of each semester in order to secure educational materials for their students.
