Kelvin Smith Library provides access to its collections for alumni and community members with personal research needs. Materials may be browsed, read, and scanned in accordance with library policies. Many library resources are available to both alumni and community members.

Hours may be reduced during holidays and academic breaks. A valid, government-issued photo ID is required for entry, in accordance with the ID Policy.
Please note: Individuals age 13 and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times while in the library.
KSL has four designated computers available for public use. These computers provide access to CWRU databases and other online research tools. To log in, please check in at the Service Center.
- Computers may be used for up to two hours per day.
- New logins end 60 minutes before visitor hours end.
- All computer sessions end 30 minutes before visitor hours end.

- Licensed electronic resources are for personal, educational use and may not be used for commercial purposes.
- All users are required to comply with applicable Copyright Laws and the Acceptable Use Policy.
WEPA is a cloud-based printing service that allows users to print documents from an internet-connected device at any WEPA kiosk.
KSL has two WEPA kiosks on the Main Floor: one color printer and one black-and-white printer.
A WEPA account is not required to print, but visitors may create a guest account for full network access and additional printing options. Printing is available from USB drives, cloud services, email, and the WEPA print driver.
Payment can be made by credit card, PayPal, or a $5 WEPA print card, available for cash purchase near KSL’s entrance.

Alumni-Specific Privileges
All CWRU Alumni are eligible for access to over 30 alumni-licensed databases, community computer use, select Freedman Center resources, and printing services, and borrowing privileges that extend beyond KSL.
A valid CWRU Network ID and password are required to apply for alumni library services.
For assistance retrieving your Network ID or resetting your password, please contact [U]Tech.
After your application is processed, an email will be sent with access instructions. Ohio residents will also receive a physical library card by mail.
Alumni have borrowing privileges from KSL, The Lillian and Milford Harris Library, OhioLINK, and SearchOhio libraries.
To borrow materials, log in to the Discovery Catalog using your CWRU Network ID and password.

Community-Specific Privileges
KSL welcomes community members and offers a variety of resources to individuals who are not affiliated with CWRU. These include computer access, printing, and scanning services.
Community patrons may use KSL materials inside of the library, although some in-house resources carry restrictions.
The CWRU Office of Government Relations offers special privileges and access to select campus amenities through the Community Card. For details, visit the Office of Government Relations CWRU Community Card page.
Community members can save digital scans using KSL’s KIC scanners located on the first floor. These scanners allow users to email PDFs of scanned documents or download them directly to a USB drive.
