Anna Lembke, MD, Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University School of Medicine and Chief of the Stanford Addiction Medicine Dual Diagnosis Clinic
Dr. Lembke is a professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at Stanford University School of Medicine and chief of the Stanford Addiction Medicine Dual Diagnosis Clinic. In 2016, she published Drug Dealer, MD: How Doctors Were Duped, Patients Got Hooked, and Why It’s So Hard to Stop (Johns Hopkins University Press), which was highlighted in the New York Times as one of the top five books to read in the quest to understand the opioid epidemic. Dr. Lembke also appeared in the Netflix documentary The Social Dilemma, which provides an unvarnished look at the impact of social media on our lives. In her new book, Dopamine Nation: Finding Balance in the Age of Indulgence (Dutton/Penguin Random House, August 2021), an instant New York Times bestseller, Dr. Lembke explores how to moderate compulsive overconsumption in a dopamine-overloaded world.
About F. Joseph Callahan
F. Joseph Callahan (1923-2013)
Born in his family home in Lima, Ohio, F. Joseph Callahan went on to excel in high school athletics, higher education classrooms, nuclear submarines and, ultimately, manufacturing. He spent 42 years at the greater Cleveland fluid system company known as Swagelok, securing 23 patents there and ultimately becoming its president and then chairman.
Throughout his life, Callahan maintained a profound commitment to family, service and generosity to those less fortunate. He also displayed a powerful intellect, a passion for innovation, and overwhelming confidence in the potential of close-knit working groups.
The F. Joseph Callahan Distinguished lecture emphasizes the same kind of values of excellence, integrity and respect that Mr. Callahan embodied as an executive and a family man.
