To Case Western Reserve University Faculty and Staff,
We write to make you aware of important road construction and parking information that will impact our campus community (especially those who work on the Case Quad and the south end of campus) and visitors during Commencement Week, May 17-21. The information below is presented chronologically; please review it in its entirety.
- Wednesday, May 17: Faculty and staff attending Clap Out and Convocation on Wednesday, May 17, should plan to arrive at the Case Quad by 3 p.m. The Clap Out will begin promptly at 3:15 p.m. and Convocation will begin at 4 p.m. Please plan accordingly for delays and traffic, as the Adelbert Road bridge still will be closed for construction on Wednesday, May 17.
- Friday, May 19: All non-essential staff who park in the Veale and Severance garages should plan to work off-campus with the exception of those working or volunteering on commencement-related activities. This will allow us to accommodate parking for graduates and guests attending the School of Graduate Studies Diploma Ceremony. This ceremony will take place at the Veale Convocation, Recreation and Athletic Center at 2 p.m., Friday, May 19, and we expect a total of 3,000 graduates and guests to attend. Please consult with your supervisor for guidance on working from home that day.
- Friday, May 19-late June: The Adelbert Road bridge (between Murray Hill Road and Circle Drive) will re-open Friday, May 19. This is a temporary re-opening of the bridge while contractors await the delivery of additional construction materials.
As a reminder, those attending a diploma ceremony at any of our commencement venues should plan to arrive at least one hour prior to the start of their ceremony to allow for traffic, parking time, and walking to the venue.
We thank you for your cooperation and we look forward to celebrating our graduates next week!
Sincerely,
Eric W. Kaler, President
Ben Vinson III, Provost and Executive Vice President
