Message to Faculty: Our Isolated and Quarantined Students

To Our Faculty:

As you may have seen on our COVID dashboard, CWRU is still showing only a 2% positivity rate for COVID-19 infections (while some campuses across the country are at 5-9%). We should be proud that our campus community consistently takes steps to keep our infection rate low, which includes wearing masks, practicing social distancing, and frequent hand washing.

You may also know that in recent days, the number of students who we have asked to isolate or quarantine on campus has increased significantly. Those students in isolation or quarantine are doing their part to stem the transmission of COVID-19 within the campus community. In turn, I ask that you try to take into account the challenging nature of their circumstances—separated from friends and classmates for days; suffering from COVID-19 or concerned about becoming ill; and attending all classes remotely or, in the case of in-person only offerings, missing classes entirely. Please consider those circumstances when students request extensions or other accommodations while isolated or quarantined.

Thank you for all you do for our students; we are grateful.
