On-Campus Employee Training and Development Resources

SAC supports the personal growth and development of all staff on campus by encouraging educational training. SAC also offers information for new employees as they begin their new job.

Professional Development Center (PDC)

  • The Professional Development Center (PDC) aims to provide Case Western Reserve University employees with comprehensive, high-quality learning and development resources that advance the performance of the individual and the university.  The PDC offers a variety of professional development training, employee recognition and engagement, and staff conflict mediation services.

Administrative Professionals Network

  • The Administrative Professionals Network is a peer network of individuals from all over campus who share best practices, communicate and encourage professional development, and serve as resources for each other. 

Kelvin Smith Library

  • KSL staff are available to collaborate with course instructors or anyone on campus interested in augmenting research and digital skills. They offer consultation on course and assignment design, and work directly with groups and classes, teaching sessions on a wide variety of topics relating to research in all disciplines.

Academic Impressions

  • Case Western Reserve University has partnered with Academic Impressions, an organization specializing in professional development resources for higher education administrators. This partnership provides all faculty, staff, and students at CWRU with membership access to a host of training resources designed specifically for professionals working in our industry. Topic areas range from skills-based trainings for professionals in all areas of higher ed, to leadership trainings on topics such as supervision, personal effectiveness and more. Accessing your member resources is a breeze with SSO (Single sign-on).

University Compliance

  • This program operates under the direction of the Executive Compliance Committee with the purpose of monitoring and coordinating the university’s many existing compliance efforts, assessing university-wide performance, and providing senior leadership and the Audit Committee of the Board of Trustees with an independent, comprehensive view of the university’s compliance activities.

Environmental Health and Safety

  • The unit offers services that support the university's research and education mission while maintaining regulatory compliance. Specialists provide training and education for regulatory and safety concerns and aspire to keep programs relevant and proactive.

Technology Training and Consultation, provided by the University Technology

  • Training and consultation services are available to support members of the university community in their use of university technologies.

CAPS Program

  • Case Western Reserve University Administrative Professional Series (CAPS) is a training and development program that focuses on educating individuals on the financial management of administrative units at CWRU. Courses provide information on working with general departmental accounting, sponsored projects, purchasing, PeopleSoft Financials, and many more topics.

Siegal Lifelong Learning

  • The Laura and Alvin Siegal Lifelong Learning Progam at Case Western Reserve University offers a wide variety of non-credit programs that draw from the liberal arts disciplines and provide high-quality lifelong learning opportunities for residents of northeastern Ohio. Their mission is to connect CWRU with the community by providing challenging but non-competitive learning experiences for adults who want to cultivate their ongoing intellectual curiosity.

Weatherhead Executive Education

  • A wide range of executive education seminars and certificates to enhance individual's leadership skills. Staff discounts are available.

Women's Staff Leadership Development Initiative (WSLDI)

  • A year-long program offering women professional staff an opportunity to enhance and energize leadership and career development skills through education, coaching, and building professional networks. Applications are accepted annually and enrollment is limited to 12 participants per year.
