Study at Case Western Reserve University

Case Western Reserve University has established formal exchange agreements with high-caliber schools around the world. Exchange programs generally last either a semester or academic year and are not available during the summer term.

We are so excited that you are interested in studying abroad at CWRU! We welcome students from all academic backgrounds—no matter what you are studying, you will quickly become part of our campus community. 

Case Western Reserve is home to students, faculty and scholars from around the world. Nearly one-fourth of CWRU undergraduates are citizens of a country other than the United States, representing more than 100 countries. International students readily find community on our campus, including in student organizations dedicated to sharing identity, celebrating traditions and building friendships.

Undergraduate Exchange Students

You can learn more about Case Western Reserve and our undergraduate exchange programs here.

If you are enrolled as an undergraduate, degree-seeking student at one of our exchange partner institutions (listed below) or a Global E3-affiliated university you can apply to study abroad at Case Western Reserve for one or two semesters as an exchange student. 

To get started:

  1. Contact the study abroad office at your university to begin the application process.
  2. Once you are accepted by your home university, you will receive information on how to apply to Case Western Reserve or GE3. If you have questions on how to complete CWRU's application process, please email exchanges@case.edu.
  3. After you are accepted to Case Western Reserve, you will be given information on how to apply for your visa and register for classes. 

If you do not attend one of our exchange partner institutions or a Global E3-affiliated university, and are interested in submitting an application for consideration to enroll in the summer, fall, or spring terms, please see the Visiting Non-Degree Students page for information on how to apply.

CWRU is a member of the Global Engineering Education Exchange (Global E3) program which provides further access for students to engage in mobility abroad.

Visiting Law Students

If you are enrolled as a degree-seeking law student at one of CWRU School of Law's partner institutions, you can apply to study abroad at Case Western Reserve for one semester as a visiting student. To get started contact your study abroad office or your academic department to begin the application process with them. Once you are accepted by your home university, you will receive information on how to apply to Case Western Reserve.
