Cory Shaffer helps journalists tell stories about the groundbreaking research and innovations in understanding, enjoying and advancing the world around us that take place at Case Western Reserve University’s College of Arts and Sciences and Case School of Engineering.
He came to campus in 2026 after 13 years reporting for cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer, where he covered everything from crime and criminal justice in Cleveland to local governments across Northeast Ohio for the state’s largest news outlet.
Cory spends most of his free time with his wife, Catrina, and pretending to be the heroes and villains in every Disney movie ever made at the request of his daughter, Poppy.
