Heyu Xiong, PhD, is an assistant professor of Economics at the Weatherhead School of Management. He is an applied microeconomist whose work centers on the economics of media, education, and crime. One strand of his research investigates the supply-side consequences of legalization policies, another explores the political effect of media. A common theme in Xiong's work is using historical data and evidence to inform current policy questions. Currently, he teaches Intermediate Microeconomics and a new elective on the economics of crime.

Xiong received his Ph.D. in Economics from Northwestern University in 2019 and a BA in Mathematics and Economics from Cornell University in 2012.
