Heyu Xiong, PhD, is an assistant professor of Economics at the Weatherhead School of Management. He is an applied microeconomist whose work centers on the economics of digitization, political economy, and education. A central theme of his research is an attempt to understand the broader impacts associated with the adoption of digital technology. This research agenda has culminated in studies on ride-sharing smartphone applications, digital crowdfunding platforms, and online dating apps. A separate strand of his work explores the political effect of media. Currently, he teaches Intermediate Microeconomics and an elective on the economics of crime.
Dr. Xiong received his Ph.D. in Economics from Northwestern University in 2019 and a BA in Mathematics and Economics from Cornell University in 2012.
