Preparing Through Action

Career preparation begins at Weatherhead School during the sophomore year via ORBH 250— Leading People (LEAD I), a course that covers fundamental organizational behavior topics that focus on how individuals can be their best and develop positive relationships at work.

You’ll develop tools such as self-awareness about your learning styles and values in order to foster emotional intelligence. You’ll also learn about motivation, decision-making and building and maintaining connections with others. Finally, you’ll lay the foundation for career development by combining your knowledge with research on career options and identifying skills to be successful in your future job searches.

CWRU’s affiliations with hundreds of companies, non-profit organizations, and government agencies in Cleveland and around the world make it easy to gain work experience. Summer internships and semester-long co-op (practicum) opportunities abound, and our action learning course for seniors includes our distinctive “consulting boot camp”; students follow this intensive experience up by putting into practice all that they have learned in a real-life consulting project for a local organization.
