Integrated Master of Finance

Obtain your BA/BS degree and Master of Finance degree in as little as four years in the integrated study program at Case Western Reserve University's Weatherhead School of Management.

This program is strongly recommended for BA/BS students (CWRU undergraduates only) who are looking to leverage the quantitative and analytical skills they developed during their undergraduate studies with specialized skills obtained from a Master of Finance.

Application Process Overview

Ready to apply? Take these steps: 

  • Create an application, or log in using your username and password to continue your application.
  • Upload the required unofficial documents. If you are admitted and you matriculate, we will require your official documents then. Further instructions will be sent by email.
  • When your application is finished, click “submit” to pay your non-refundable application fee.
  • After clicking “submit,” you will not be able to make any changes to your application form, resume or essays, but you will be able to log back in later to upload transcripts and test scores. All required documents must be submitted in order to be considered.
  • Once your application is complete, you may receive an invitation to interview. Interviews are by invitation only.
  • Any application that remains incomplete at the end of the admissions period will be withdrawn.

Application Requirements

The integrated version of the Master of Finance program is only available to current Case Western Reserve University undergraduates. Students from other universities must apply to the Master of Finance program and finish their undergraduate degree before beginning the program. When reviewing your profile for admission consideration, Weatherhead School’s graduate admissions team requires the following:

  • Prerequisites
  • Online application form
  • Essays (One Required, One Optional)
  • Current resume
  • Unofficial transcripts, GPA, grading scale
  • Proof of English Language Proficiency (for applicants whose native language is not English)
  • Two recommendations
  • The application fee is automatically waived for current CWRU students

Each supporting document must be uploaded to your online application for admission consideration. The GMAT/GRE Standardized test and English language test are not a requirement for admission to this integrated program. Please note: An offer for admission cannot be extended with an incomplete application package. Weatherhead School does not offer conditional admission under any circumstances. We reserve the right to deny admission if an application remains incomplete by the final deadline.

Deadlines

Integrated Admissions is ongoing throughout the school year, beginning in the fall, continuing throughout the spring semester and into the early summer months for the August start of the program. 

Generally, students should apply for the program in the semester or year before they plan to begin taking graduate courses. This typically means that you should apply during your sophomore year (fall or spring semester) for admission to the program if you plan to begin your integrated courses in the fall of your junior year or apply during your junior year (fall or spring semester) if you plan to begin your integrated courses in the fall of your senior year.

Applications are accepted after the Round 4 deadline. Enrollment continues over summer, space permitting.

 

Note: An offer of admission cannot be issued if an application package remains incomplete. If an application remains incomplete, Weatherhead School reserves the right to withdraw or deny the application. After the final round deadline applications will continue to be accepted and reviewed as space in the cohort remains available.

Weatherhead Finance Fellowship

A corporate project experience in the curriculum may be available for top Master of Finance students. Through Weatherhead Finance Fellowship, students can complete a corporate assignment facilitated by industry expert(s) in the finance field, designed to address real issues in your area of specialization: corporate finance, corporate financial analytics, risk management analytics or financial big data analytics.

The fellowship may come with a tuition scholarship award and will add relevant industry experience to your resume. Forty percent of Fortune 500 companies have a presence in Cleveland, so the projects will be representative of a variety of industries including financial services. Since Cleveland is near other big-city financial centers, projects may be in those cities as well.

City Treks

The Master of Finance program organizes city treks across the U.S. to meet with potential employers. City treks include Chicago, New York and Cleveland. Participating companies have included Bloomberg, Samsung Asset Management, PwC, Federal Reserve Bank, Chicago Mercantile Exchange, New York Stock exchange, KeyBank, PNC, Trading Technologies, Morningstar and more. These treks will provide you with the opportunity to visit and learn about various firms, and to meet and form relationships with leaders in the field.

Executive Seminars

The Master of Finance program hosts several seminars a year led by industry experts. These seminars will introduce you to a variety of sectors of finance and will give you the opportunity to network with top finance professionals. The program has welcomed distinguished executives from: JPMorgan Chase, Huntington Bank, PricewaterhouseCoopers, KPMG, Federal Reserve Bank, KeyBank, PNC, Likefolio, Hilltop Securities, Chakravorti Advisors, The Riverside Company and many more. These seminars provide a great opportunity for you to learn about what is needed to succeed in finance jobs.

Academic Seminars

Master of Finance students are also invited to regular academic seminars the Department of Banking and Finance hosts. These seminars are held regularly, and given by top academic researchers in finance. These seminars provide students information about what is currently happening at the cutting edge of financial research that may have many applications in practice.
