Sabbatical/Leave of Absence (non-medical)
The Office of the Provost reviews and approves sabbatical and non-medical leaves as the designee of the President.
Faculty should consult with their department chair, or dean, if the school is not organized into departments, to begin the process for requesting a sabbatical or non-medical leave of absence. Once the faculty member submits their CV and study proposal to their department chair or dean, it is the responsibility of the department chair or dean to move the application forward for review. The school should follow the requirements and approval process described in the individual school’s bylaws and the Faculty Handbook (Chapter 3, Part One, Article II, A and B).
Sabbatical and leave of absence requests must be submitted to the Office of the Provost with sufficient time for a response before the leave. All requests are submitted by the college or school through Interfolio.

Medical and parental leaves of absence are managed by Human Resources. Refer to the Human Resources website for information on eligibility and application processes.
