KSL Collection featured on national library magazine cover!

Cover of College and Research Libraries News magazine

The June 2025 issue of College and Research Libraries News (C&RL News), the official newsmagazine and publication record of the Association of College & Research Libraries, featured "Porch Scene," a digitized image from CWRU’s Digital Case, on its cover.

This striking image is a part of the Works Progress Administration: Prints of the Federal Arts Project housed in Kelvin Smith Library’s Special Collections. This project, initiated in 1935 as part of the United States Works Progress Administration, aimed to help the unemployed by hiring them for public works initiatives, including employing 350 Cleveland artists. KSL’s collection in Digital Case contains over 260 prints created in Cleveland during the Great Depression to promote art by, of, and for the people.

Its selection for the cover highlights the national significance of CWRU’s archival holdings and the Kelvin Smith Library’s ongoing efforts to preserve and share cultural heritage through open digital access.
