Happy Anniversary, Faculty OA Policy!

map of the world for open access

Last March, CWRU faculty adopted the Faculty Open Access (OA) Policy to provide wider dissemination of faculty’s scholarly articles. The OA Policy allows faculty members to retain rights to openly share and reuse their scholarly articles, including publicly posting their article in CWRU’s open access repository, Scholarly Commons.

In Scholarly Commons, the Faculty OA Collection has received thousands of downloads from readers across the globe (see infographic). Because Scholarly Commons makes works discoverable on search engines, most readers are finding and downloading faculty work through Google and GoogleScholar.

In adopting the OA Policy last year, CWRU faculty showed their commitment to open sharing of research and scholarship. This policy will continue to ensure that faculty can share their work to the widest possible audience, increasing their visibility and impact.

Learn more about this policy on the Faculty OA Policy Guide. Faculty can submit their work to Scholarly Commons online or by emailing scholarlycomm@case.edu. Law school faculty members should continue to submit their work to the Law School’s Scholarly Commons.
