MSMP Admitted Students

Congratulations on your acceptance to the Case Western Reserve University Master of Science in Medical Physiology (MSMP) program! We look forward to supporting you as you begin your graduate studies.

Review the information below for important next steps, key dates and resources for admitted MSMP students. If you have additional questions, please contact Bart Jarmusch, administrative director of graduate education for the Department of Physiology and Biophysics at CWRU.

Faculty Advisor

All incoming students are assigned a faculty advisor who will work with them throughout the MSMP program to select courses and strengthen professional school applications.

Spring and Summer Students

Spring and summer students are assigned a faculty advisor before the term begins. The MSMP admissions office sends advisor assignment notifications after the School of Graduate Studies adds students to the Student Information System (SIS). Students should email their faculty advisor to schedule a meeting and discuss course options and academic planning for the upcoming semester.

Fall Students

Fall students are assigned a faculty advisor in the weeks leading up to August orientation. With few exceptions, fall students enroll in the same core curriculum courses. Students who would like to meet with a faculty member before the start of the fall term should contact the MSMP admissions office.

Class Registration

Registration dates and deadlines are available on the School of Graduate Studies Dates and Deadlines page. If you need guidance on registering for classes, please review these step-by-step instructions.

Spring and Summer Students

Spring and summer students enroll in elective courses. Students should meet with their faculty advisor before registering to discuss course options and plan for the upcoming semester. All elective courses require departmental permission, which students must request through SIS. Permission is granted on a rolling basis. Students who have already requested permission for courses should check their SIS shopping cart to complete the enrollment process.

Fall Students

Fall students enroll in core curriculum courses (10 credit hours), with few exceptions. Students may register for these courses once registration opens. Resident students should enroll in the 100 section, while online students should enroll in the 800 section.

MSMP Orientation

Orientation sessions are held in person, streamed and recorded.

Spring and Summer Orientation

Required MSMP summer orientation is held virtually during the week before classes begin. The session is also recorded.

Fall Orientation

Required MSMP fall orientation activities take place during the week before classes begin. Students who matriculated during the spring or summer terms should also attend.

MSMP GroupMe

Incoming students may request to join the MSMP GroupMe using the link provided in their welcome email. Students can use the GroupMe to ask questions, connect with classmates and discuss housing or roommate opportunities, etc.
