It is never too early to connect to the Career Center. Their expert staff can aid your search in finding and obtaining the right internship, be it full-time, part-time, or a micro internship.
The office helps students from every college and major find opportunities through a large network of employers and organizations who seek out CWRU students.
Students that are new to experiential education may benefit from first taking on a smaller project. Micro internships and externships are short-term, remote, and require little-to-no previous experience. This is a great way to demonstrate skills, explore career paths, and build a professional network. Other programs such as Career Connections and the WallStreet Trek expose students to different careers and help them connect with CWRU alumni across the country. Practicum:
Students who participate in the Practicum Program gain on-the-job experience with local, national, and international employers while keeping full-time student status during the semester in which they participate.
The Practicum Program is open to students in the College of Arts and Sciences, Weatherhead School of Management, Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing, as well as students pursuing entrepreneurial ventures. Students work closely with a faculty member to identify learning objectives for the practicum.
The Career Center has practicum coordinators who will meet with you to work out the details of finding and securing a practicum and will meet with you during and after your practicum experience.
Please note that students who complete the practicum program will meet the Local and Global Engagement perspective under the Unified General Education requirements.
Co-ops:
Hosted through the Case School of Engineering, the Cooperative Education Program at Case Western Reserve University is a voluntary program that provides engineering students a unique opportunity to gain hands-on, paid experience relevant to their course of study.
A co-op is a full-time, two-semester, paid work experience. It is non-credit, however, proper course registration maintains your full-time status at CWRU. You’ll receive assistance throughout the entire co-op process, including informal discussions before you apply, orientation meetings, structured group classes and one-on-one instruction sessions, guidance in evaluating opportunities, and follow-up during and after your co-op. Students are eligible for a co-op starting junior year.
