To Our Faculty, Staff, and Students:
We write today to share that we are extending the university’s work-from-home guidance through Saturday, Jan. 23, in alignment with Ohio’s decision to continue its curfew through the same date.
In simplest terms, this approach means that only those who must be physically present to perform all or part of their duties should come to campus. Even then, these individuals must follow all university prevention protocols—including weekly testing. Those with questions regarding whether or how much to be on campus should consult their supervisors.
We do want to make a point of expressing appreciation to those who have continued to work on campus since the pandemic began. They include our custodial and facilities workers, public safety and health services staff, and literally hundreds of faculty, staff and students engaged in supporting and performing research and other academic efforts that require in-person activities.
Meanwhile, as of late Wednesday, the university had administered just over 1,800 COVID-19 tests, and our hospital and public health partners had given initial vaccinations to roughly 300 members of the campus community involved in direct care and first-response activity.
We continue our outreach to secure additional doses, and will update the campus as soon as additional information becomes available.
