Effort to Unify Student Support under the Division of Student Affairs Takes Another Step Forward
Dear Case Western Reserve University Faculty and Staff:
I write with an update on changes we are making to unify student support and advising under the Division of Student Affairs. As part of the plan to improve undergraduate student support, positions were posted on Wednesday, May 3, for the new CWRU Advising Support Office within the Division of Student Affairs.
In addition, we have informed staff in the Division of Student Success and Office of Undergraduate Studies that functions within these offices will move under the Division of Student Affairs, with this process completed by July 14, 2023.
- New positions: The new advising support office pulls together best practices from our Offices of Student Advancement & Academic Resources and Undergraduate Studies, allowing the new office to better clarify roles and align responsibilities in support of undergraduate students. We expect to begin interviews for filling positions in this office by the end of next week, continuing to interview until all positions are filled. We encourage both faculty and staff to review these positions and consider applying.
- Realignment of offices: The offices of Career Services (Postgraduate Planning), Undergraduate Research (SOURCE), Education Abroad, First Year Experience & Family Programs, and Academic Resources will report into the Division of Student Affairs, with that transition taking place between the end of May and July 14, 2023. After July 14, the Division of Student Success and Office of Undergraduate Studies will close.
These changes will result in a more unified alignment around the Division of Student Affairs. We anticipate making concrete improvements that will lead to a singular office culture, integrated metrics and clarity of staff roles.
We expect to post additional positions of interest to both faculty and staff over the next several weeks.
For additional details, please join us on Monday, May 8, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for an informal webinar where we will also answer questions. Please register now.
