Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Food Policy Coalition
The FPC brings about public and private policy-based changes that foster an all-around healthier food system.  The Coalition has based its work on assessments of how food can impact the health of individuals, communities, the economy, and the environment.

Cuyahoga County Office of sustainability
Educates the public about environmentally sustainable practices. Collaborates with businesses, non-profit organizations, political subdivisions, and government agencies to develop programs incorporating environmentally sustainable methods into accepted practice.

Environmental Health Watch
An organization involved in shaping policy and implementing initiatives towards generating and maintaining healthy environments. There are opportunities for community involvement.

Environmental Public Health, Cuyahoga County Board of Health
The Cuyahoga County Board Health addresses multiple environmental health concerns for County residents.

GreenCityBlueLake, Cleveland Museum of Natural History (CMNH)
GreenCityBlueLake is the sustainability center of the Cleveland Museum of Natural History (CMNH). Their work supports transformative urban revitalization in Northeast Ohio.

Human Health & Evolutionary Medicine, Cleveland Museum of Natural History (CMNH)
Details the relationship between human health and natural history. It provides information on how our genetics, health, and environment are interconnected and current research in the area. The site also links to health education workshops that can be taken at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History.

Office of Energy & Sustainability, Case Western Reserve University 
CWRU’s Office of Energy & Sustainability is the implementer of many of the sustainability initiatives on campus. They hope to create a positive change to the world through operations, and daily interactions with the world around us, and are constantly thinking about ways to improve the sustainability state of the university.

The Office of Sustainability leverages Cleveland’s wealth of assets by collaborating with the community to improve the economic, environmental, and social well-being of its citizens.

Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency
NOACA addresses the transportation, air quality, and water quality needs of Northeast Ohio. The agency and its partners cooperatively develop and implement plans to ensure that travel throughout the region is safe, cost-effective, and environmentally sound.

Western Reserve Land Conservancy
Western Reserve Land Conservancy provides the people of our region with essential natural assets through land conservation and restoration. They vision thriving, prosperous communities nourished by vibrant natural lands, working farms and healthy cities.

West Creek Conservancy
West Creek Conservancy protects local natural areas, open spaces, streams, and waterways right here in our community. We’re reclaiming vacant urban lands and restoring streams, wetlands, woods, and natural habitats.

It is a professional association devoted to education and advocacy of environmental health issues.

Ohio Environmental Council
The Ohio Environmental Council is dedicated to the education and advocacy of healthy air, land, and water for Ohioans. “Using legislative initiatives, legal action, scientific principles, and statewide partnerships, we secure a healthier environment for Ohio's families and communities.

American Institute for Cancer Research (AICR)
The American Institute for Cancer Research (AICR) is a research organization that focuses on the link between diet and cancer. They fund research that leads to cancer prevention, treatment, and survival--providing evidence-based recommendations to lower the population’s cancer risk. American Public Health Association – Environmental Health
Covering multiple areas of health, including environmental health, the American Public Health Association (APHA) “champions the health of all people and all communities.”

American Water Works Association
The American Water Works Association (AWWA) is a “nonprofit, scientific and educational association dedicated to managing and treating water.”  AWWA “provides solutions to improve public health, protect the environment, strengthen the economy and enhance our quality of life.”

Beyond Pesticides
An organization dedicated to removing unnecessary pesticides from the environment to reduce exposure.

Built Environment and Health, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF)
A focus area of The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF), Built Environment and Health supports programs that “help to transform local environments in ways that remove health barriers and make it easier for people to lead healthier lives.”

Environmental Working Group
The mission of the Environmental Working Group (EWG) “is to empower people to live healthier lives in a healthier environment. With breakthrough research and education, ” they seek to “drive civic action and consumer choice.”

A network of grantmakers dedicated to funding initiatives that fall at the intersection of environment and health. The website provides information on grants and well as general information on environmental health. 

Interstate Renewable Energy Council
The Interstate Renewable Energy Council “makes clean, efficient, sustainable energy possible for more Americans through forward-thinking regulatory reform, quality workforce development, and consumer education.”

National Environmental Health Association (NEHA)
The National Environmental Health Association (NEHA) supports environmental health and protection professionals towards the goal of “providing a healthful environment for all.”

Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) protects the nation’s health through diverse scientific and education initiatives. This includes diverse activities focused on environmental health.  Resources include:

  • Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry addresses issues related to hazardous substances in the environment.
  • Air Pollution & Respiratory Health provides information on the impact of air pollution on respiratory health.
  • Clean Water provides information of clean water drinking, and issues surrounding it on the federal and local level.
  • Food Safety is a government website dedicated to promoting food safety. It provides information on how to cook safely, as well as how to keep food safe and avoid issues like food poisoning.
  • Healthy Places is dedicated to providing information regarding healthy environments.
  • Healthy Food Environment is a CDC website dedicated to the relationship between food, health, and environment.
  • National Center for Environmental Health the National Center for Environmental Health (NCEH) “plans, directs, and coordinates a national program to maintain and improve the health of the American people…”
  • Traveler’s Health provides information about health issues for those who are traveling. Great for learning more about potential pathogens you may encounter on your travels (i.e. Zika, H1N1, etc.).
  • Zika Virus details current information pertaining to the ZIKA virus.

A goal-oriented resource from the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion in the Department of Health and Human Services for individuals, families, educators, policymakers, and communities.

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is a government agency dedicated to the protection of the environment. This site details the issues currently surrounding the environment and their impact, as well as legislation to address these issues.

National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS)

Through diverse activities, the Clean Air Task Force (CATF) “is working to protect air quality and the earth's climate.”

International Federation for Environmental Health
The International Federation for Environmental Health (IFEH) “works to disseminate knowledge concerning environmental health and promote cooperation between countries where environmental health issues are transboundary.”
