More thorough information is available on meals and mileage allowances.
Mileage Allowances
CWRU travel policy mirrors current Internal Revenue Service mileage allowance recommendations when reimbursing travelers for personal vehicle use. The allowance covers all automobile-related costs including gasoline, insurance, and maintenance. Toll charges and parking fees, when supported by receipts, are reimbursable in addition to the mileage allowance.
2024 CWRU Mileage Allowance Rates
- 67 cents/mile (from January 1, 2024)
- 65.5 cents/mile (from January, 2023)
Meal Allowances
The actual cost of meals, including taxes and tips, while on business is reimbursable. Receipts are required if the total cost of a meal exceeds the university meal allowance. CWRU has chosen a standard meal allowance for all travel when receipts are not available.
- Breakfast: $13.00
- Lunch: $16.00
- Dinner: $35.00
NOTE: The meal allowance is not a per diem; it assumes actual expenses have been incurred.
