CNV Krishnan’s research and teaching interests are centered in empirical corporate finance, with a focus on how financial intermediaries/financial services providers (banks, bank regulators, investment bankers, venture capitalists, law firms, law courts, fund managers/investment advisors) help create or destroy value. His research has been published in leading academic journals including the Journal of Finance, and presented at top academic conferences including the American Finance Association, Western Finance Association, and Financial Management Association Meetings. He has published several papers in law and finance. His research has been discussed in the Wall Street Journal and Reuters.com and is cited by the U.S. SEC. He has more than 25 academic publications, and has been among the top 10% of authors on Social Science Research Network (SSRN) by total downloads. He is on the program committee of several academic conferences, including Western Finance Association; European Finance Association; Financial Management Association; FMA European Conference Meetings; Midwest Finance Association; European Financial Management Association; Eastern Finance Association, Southern Finance Association, Southwest Finance Association, and Research Symposium on Finance and Economics.
Krishnan has been nominated for teaching excellence awards for graduate or undergraduate teaching in 2004, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2024, and has been a Weatherhead School of Management Teaching Excellence Award winner and Wolstein Society Amazing Mentor and Guide Award Winner. He trains masters' students in academic research. He has been involved in executive education abroad.
Krishnan holds a PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad. He has held/is holding several positions at the Weatherhead School of Management, including Department Chair, and Finance programs director.
