Globalization and the increased variety of products have impacted the uncertainty in both demand and supply. The changes, though gradual, have accumulated over time and posed enormous difficulties in planning procurement. Qi Wu, PhD, studies strategies that help firms tackle this challenge using stochastic control and econometric models. She is particularly interested in problems related to assortment planning and the impact of risk and financial factors on operational decisions.
Wu’s work focuses on empirical research in operations management, finance, and operations management interface, risk management, and supply chain contracts. Her articles appear in prestigious journals such as Mathematics of Operations Research, Production and Operations Management, Operations Research Letters, and Risk and Decision Analysis. She received her doctoral degree in Information, Risk and Operations Management from the University of Texas at Austin. Wu also holds master’s degrees in Mathematics and Statistics from University of South Carolina, and a bachelor’s degree from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China.
