Alumni spotlight: Eric Lutzo

Eric Lutzo

The hallmark of a Weatherhead School of Management alumnus is exploring new approaches in business, leadership and management to improve organizations, communities and people’s lives. Dr. Eric Lutzo, an MBA and Doctor of Management (DM) graduate from Weatherhead, is a person who pushes the boundaries in coaching to help his clients rise to a new level of leadership.

Lutzo is the founder and principal of Forward Thought, a coaching practice specializing in the whole self. As a researcher, he has studied the various aspects of authenticity, disclosure dilemma, emotional intelligence, mindfulness and workplace mediation. He believes a well-balanced life leads to strong personal and professional relationships. The assessments and models employed in his coaching sessions transform the lives of those he works with, regardless of their leadership level, to take what could be and make it a reality.

The coaching approach Lutzo uses is effective for individuals at all walks of life, from those in the boardroom to the classroom, from the startup to the C-suite, from volunteers to nonprofit managers.

He has also added a thriving yoga and meditation practice using his leadership philosophy, teaching both on and off the mat to groups and private clients.

Lutzo is board emeritus and the founding president of Plexus, the Northeast Ohio Chamber of Commerce for the LGBT community and allies, and co-founder of the Plexus Educational Foundation.

He is also a graduate of Leadership Cleveland and has formed community-based organizations like Tremont Gardner’s.
